Five Compelling Benefits of Self-Paced Learning

There are several reasons why the ACT Center’s computer-based training delivery may be more effective and efficient than traditional training methods.

First, trainees can progress at their individual pace. Studies have shown that individualized programs enable the majority of people to complete the material more quickly. In addition, it also allows slower learners to set a pace commensurate with their learning speed. In a traditional training program, all participants are usually required to go through the material at the same time and pace.
Second, trainees do not have interruptions that may affect their learning. Often, in traditional delivery, a trainee may need extra help or may have a question. During the time the trainer is assisting or answering the question of one trainee, the other attendees may or may not be learning anything.
Third, trainees can choose material they need and eliminate material they do not need. Many ACT Center programs will allow trainees to skip modules that cover material they have already mastered and to focus only on the material that will improve their skills.
Fourth, the same program can accommodate different needs. Different trainees often need to use different sections of the same program. ACT Center courses can accommodate these needs. Usually, traditional training programs do not have this flexibility and trainees must take the entire program to get the portions they need.
Fifth, the ACT Center programs can accommodate the trainee’s location. Many of the programs are web-based and will allow the trainee to take the program at the ACT Center, or with proper technology, at the job site.
